Inviato - 18/09/2015 : 10:39:31 The free video embedded above of 'Clash of Clones: The Importance of Standing Out' is now available to watch here on the GDC Vault.About the GDC VaultIn addition to this presentation, the GDC Vault offers numerous other free videos, audio recordings, and slides from many of the recent Game Developers Conference events, and the service offers even more members only content for GDC Vault subscribers. Group subscriptions are also available: game related schools and development studios who sign up for GDC Vault Studio Subscriptions can receive access for their entire office or company by contacting staff via the GDC Vault group subscription page. Finally, current subscribers with access issues can contact GDC Vault technical support.Gamasutra and GDC are sibling organizations under parent UBM Tech "It#146;s not a sport it#146;s a competition. Chess is a competition. Checkers is a competition. Mostly, I#146;m interested in doing real sports." ESPN president John SkipperThose are the words of ESPN president John Skipper, speaking at the Code Media Series: New York conference, as reported by Re code. However, ESPN and eSports have gotten cozier in the last months. The MLG held a Call of Duty tournament at ESPN's X Runescape games in Austin, which was "highlighted" on ABC and ESPN; ESPN3 streamed Valve's The International Dota 2 tournament online. Still, athletes, sports fans, and apparently high powered executives in the sports space don't necessarily consider eSports "sports," and Skipper's remarks point to that barrier. The practical effect it'll have on the further inclusion of eSports in ESPN's lineup is unclear. Online video sells Runescape games of that there is no question. Speaking at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference, Twitch CEO Emmett Shear says that his website "in some ways, is a native advertising unit for video Runescape games," Re code reports.Native advertising, of course, is content placed on website and in print publications that looks like editorial but is, in fact, advertising material. Of late, there have been questions over whether or popular YouTubers have properly disclosed when their content is paid. This was said in response to a question whether the recent acquisition of Twitch by Amazon would turn the site into a hub to sell Runescape games via the popular e commerce site, but it seems like Shear sees the site rather differently to that: "If you change that into a storefront,http://www.rsgoldshop.com you destroy a lot of what#146;s great about Twitch," Shear said.If you're still trying to wrap your head around the concept of online game streaming and YouTubers, Gamasutra has prepared an article to explain the phenomenon. Research firm GfK has released a chart of the best selling Runescape games of 2014 so far in Europe, and EA's FIFA 14 is the clear winner so far with 2,176,245 copies sold in the territory. These numbers come to us from French site Gamekult, which captured them from German trade publication Runescape gamesMarkt. The numbers cover retail Runescape games only, and apparently the entire European territory.
