Inviato - 04/03/2021 : 03:48:16 Fortnite game developer Epic Games acquired Tony Games Group the British company behind the video game Fall Guys where the game became an instant hit when it was launched last summer a month after the release of millions of people playing the game.
According to a FAQ posted on the studio's website the acquisition will speed up plans to improve the game. The idea is to transport Fortnite and Rocket League features to Fall Guys which will include an account system a squad versus squad mode and multiplayer across platforms.
According to Epic Games there are no plans to make Fall Guys a free title with in-house purchases as it did with Rocket League.
It is interesting to mention that Fall Guys uses Unity which is the main competitor to Epic Games' Unreal Engine however both companies say they plan to bring resources with the crossplay seen in Fortnite for the title in the future.
In the video game world Mediatonic is arguably best known for its hit Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout a colorful massively multiplayer battle-royale game in which small characters compete to finish an obstacle course. Released last August it is currently available in Windows 10 and Sony PlayStation 4 versions. Both Epic and Mediatonic promise that Nintendo Switch and Microsoft Xbox versions are coming soon.
Fortnite and Fall Guys are among the popular battle royale genre games. Since its 2017 release Fortnite has amassed over 350 million players. It caught the attention of well-known investors like Sony who invested US $ 250 million. Epic Games' current valuation is US $ 17.3 billion.
Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout already sets the stage for the arrival of its fourth season which will have a futuristic theme with lots of lights and neon. Its debut date however has not yet been revealed.
Fall Guys is now available for PC PlayStation and soon the game should also be released for Xbox.
