The problem is now in 2022. not just bad, but it's like the gamers who made this game neglected the past decade or so of discussions and debates regarding representation of women and non-masculine character in video games.
When I first began playing Lost Ark, I booted up it and made a Paladin name Zack which was a guy. I'm boring. Yet, even as a male character I noticed how many of female characters around me seemed to be, uh... not wearing pants. And I'm not the only person who noticed. Other players have pointed out how difficult it can be for an actress in Lost Ark to find clothing and armor that actually, y'know, covers your body.
Technically speaking, that's progress It's just odd to force those playing the role of women to go around mostly naked and all in heels. To be honest: I'm fine with people who like short-shorts or high-heels. If it's something that makes you feel great, I'm down for it. Also, I believe that video games should be able to accommodate for those who would like to dress in provocative clothing or even super-high heels. It's a bit frustrating that we'll have to remind game developers and publishers that women could desire a variety in their appearance.
(Quick point: also would like to say that if you think heels and shorts are cool, sexy, or awesome, I'm not here to tell you that you're in the wrong, or suggest that your opinion is bad. I'm simply soliciting more choices for many more people! Imagine the opposite. Imagine if all the clothes were sexy or revealing. You'd probably be dissatisfied! That's how a bunch of people feel right now when they load into Lost Ark.)
Even even if Lost Ark offered a wider range of clothes and armor to females, it's not going to fix its other big problem with females: all the exaggerated fan service-like animations. Women that appear on Lost Ark have hips that flail from side to side and move so fast they appear as if they have been ripped out of an Source Filmmaker project from a decade ago. Social media is where you can see many women who have commented on how hilariously awful the female characters of Lost Ark look, especially when zoomed down.
